Registered Nurse – Step Down Unit

Location: Beaufort, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients
• Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with floating to ICU, stepdown, and medical-surgical units
• Bed Count: 21 beds
• Patient Care:

  • Non-titrating drips including Amiodarone, NTG, Cardizem, Lopressor, Cardene
  • Vascular cases (fem-pop bypass, carotid endarterectomy)
  • NSTEMI and post-cardiac catheterization with intervention
  • CIWA protocol with IVP Ativan (no Presidex)
  • Peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis in dialysis department
  • Stable BiPAP and home ventilators (Trilogy)
  • Wound care and nebulizer treatments
  • Heated high flow oxygen <80%
• Electronic Medical Record: Meditech
• Dress Code: Scrubs in royal blue and white
• Orientation: Every Wednesday
• Every Other Weekend (EOW) required
• Travel Radius: Must live within 50 miles

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
• Minimum of 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
• Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Additional Notes

• Floating across stepdown, ICU, and medical-surgical units is mandatory.
• Candidates must be prepared to work with a variety of cardiac and respiratory interventions.
• Facility requires strict adherence to documentation and compliance with health and safety protocols.
