Job Opportunity: Pediatric OR Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location
- Seattle, Washington
Position Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day shift, 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM (4x10 hour shifts per week)
- On-call: Required with variable call and days, including overnight and weekend call (typically 1-2 weekend 12-hour shifts and 1-2 weekday overnight shifts in a 6-week schedule)
- Weekend work: Yes
- Floating: No

Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State
- Minimum 1 year of recent Pediatrics Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
- Experience in Neurosurgery and Orthopedic Surgery
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Competencies & Exams
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (pediatric focused)
- Unit-specific competency exams with minimum passing score of 80%
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for certain critical care areas (PICU, CICU, NICU, ER) — may apply depending on assignment
- Skills checklists including pediatric skills checklist (required for all RNs not booked as Pediatrics)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per protocol (Qgold/Tspot within 12 weeks of start or 2 PPDs with timing requirements)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination (any Tdap after age 11 accepted)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination per facility policy
- Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series or signed declination
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination form required during flu season (Oct–March)
- Fit test for respirator use (N95 or CAPR/PAPR) valid for entire assignment; on-site fit testing not allowed
- Respirator medical clearance annually (RespSafety clearance)
- COVID vaccine strongly recommended but not required
Background & Compliance
- 7-year criminal background check required; must meet all search criteria including FACIS 3, county civil, state and national criminal databases, sex offender watch, and global sanctions
- Background checks must be current and complete prior to start
- E-Verify attestation required
- Education verification required for candidates educated outside the U.S.
- Official transcripts/diplomas required for all RNs
- WA State Patrol/WATCH search required within 12 months and rerun every 2 years
Additional Facility Requirements
- Photo for badge: Must be on blue background, no hats or headwear, submitted within 72 hours of contract signing
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start (approx. 8 hours)
- Math test and EKG test administered onsite; remediation allowed without cancellation
- Meal waiver agreement available but not required unless waiving second meal period
- Payroll deduction authorization form required for parking charges if applicable
This position is ideal for experienced OR Registered Nurses comfortable with pediatric and complex surgical cases, who are flexible with on-call and weekend shifts, and meet the comprehensive certification, competency, and health requirements.
