Description
Registered Nurse (IMC) - Travel/Contract
Location: Bel Air, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: June 1, 2026
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Unit & Patient Population
- Unit Type: Intermediate Care (IMC)
- Average Daily Census: 22 patients
- Bed Count: 22
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Patient Age Range: Adult and Geriatrics
- Common Diagnoses: Cardiac, Respiratory, Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
- Special Procedures/Equipment: Precedex and insulin drips, high-flow oxygen, BiPAP, chest tubes, TCAR, post-cardiac cath lab care
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Work Schedule & Requirements
- Every other weekend required
- Holidays required as scheduled
- Floating required within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
- On-call shifts are rare and pre-scheduled on-call shifts are not required
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal search, education verification, and state-specific exclusions
- Drug screening: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 30-45 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
- Health documents:
- Physical exam within 1 year
- Fit mask test within 1 year
- Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
- TB screening (QGOLD, TSPOT, or 2-step PPD) updated annually
- Flu vaccine or approved exemption required during flu season
- References: Two professional references within 1 year, including at least one supervisor/manager
- Employment history verification for previous 5 years
- Facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreements, dress code review, and unit-specific job description must be signed prior to start
Additional Notes
- Navy scrub color required
- Candidates must complete competency exams as applicable (medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, age-specific competencies)
- Facility orientation includes completion of required training and certifications if not already current
- Various attestations and compliance documents must be completed timely to avoid delays in credentialing and start date
This position offers a structured night shift schedule in a specialized intermediate care setting with a focus on cardiac and respiratory patient care. It is suitable for RNs with critical care experience seeking a travel contract in Maryland.
