Job Description
- Provide care for patients requiring Progressive Care Unit (PCU) level of care.
- Manage a 1:6 patient ratio.
- Floating within scope of practice is required.
- Orthopedic and total joint replacement nursing care experience is strongly preferred.
- Must be comfortable working every other weekend.
- No block scheduling allowed.
- Mandatory clinical orientation week requiring 5 shifts (36-40 hours).
Shift Details
- Day shift: 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Total hours per week: 48
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Florida
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting
- Current certifications issued by the American Heart Association:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Background check within 6 months, including social security trace, education verification, and nationwide checks.
- Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start.
- Education verification of RN degree (ASN, BSN, or MSN).
- Physical exam within 6 months of start.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year.
- Drug screening (9-panel) within 3 months.
- Required vaccinations or documented exemptions for:
- COVID-19
- Influenza (seasonal)
- Hepatitis B
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
- Varicella
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and safety acknowledgements prior to start.
- Two professional references within 2 years.
- Performance evaluation within the last year if applicable.
- Skills checklist required.
Additional Information
- No local candidates within 30 miles of the facility.
- Must be available to work assigned holidays and holiday eves as required.
- Free parking available.
- Charting system: Meditech.
- Facility type: Acute Care Hospital with 210 staffed beds.
- Scrub color: Any.
This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable with PCU-level acuity, orthopedic care, and a fast-paced environment requiring flexibility and adherence to strict attendance and compliance standards.
