Medical Lab Technician - Travel/Contract Position
Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Shift: Night (4x10 hours), 8:00 PM – 6:30 AM
Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in the blood bank department.
- Must have prior blood bank experience.
- Travel assignment; local candidates not accepted.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Medical Lab Technician license in Louisiana.
- Minimum of 1 year of Medical Lab Technician experience.
- Medical Lab Technician experience within the last year.
Certifications & Competencies
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA provider, instructor, or RQI accepted).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification may be required depending on assignment.
- Competency exams as required by specialty.
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check (updated if no assignment within last 90 days).
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG screenings required.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual renewal required.
- Annual respirator fit testing (fit mask) may be required.
- 12-panel drug screen within 90 days prior to start.
- Influenza vaccination documentation or approved medical/religious exemption form.
- COVID-19 vaccination documentation or approved medical/religious exemption form.
- Signed system access and confidentiality agreement prior to start.
- Copy of valid photo ID (driver’s license or state ID).
Additional Notes
- Healthstream training courses assigned on first day of orientation; completion required to perform certain tasks (e.g., glucose testing).
- Facility-specific exemption forms for flu and COVID vaccinations must be completed and approved if applicable.
This position is ideal for Medical Lab Technicians with blood bank experience seeking a travel contract opportunity on a night shift schedule.
