Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse
Location: Newark, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse with Interventional Radiology experience to circulate IR procedures, administer moderate sedation, and provide vascular access care. This role involves working with high-acuity patients undergoing minimally invasive, image-guided procedures.
Required Qualifications
Licenses & Certifications
- Valid RN license in New Jersey
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of Interventional Radiology experience within the last year
- Proficient in PICC and Midline nursing
- Ability to administer moderate sedation
- Procedural experience in OR/CVOR and Cath Lab
- Experience with PICC care, implanted ports, and central venous access (non-tunneled/PICC/port)
- Thoracic aortography experience
- End-tidal CO2 monitoring and procedural sedation monitoring experience
- Radiation and laser safety experience
- Pre- and post-procedure patient care experience
- Lung biopsy experience
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
- No procedural experience required with ICU/CCU background
Work Schedule
- Day shift: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM (5 days a week, 8 hours per day)
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: Every 3rd week (Monday to Sunday)
- Holiday work: Must work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays as needed
Additional Requirements
Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID and driver’s license required within 48 hours of signing
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start
- Drug screen within 30 days of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start
- Physical exam within 12 months of start, cleared to perform essential job functions
- Respiratory medical clearance and on-site fit testing mandatory
- Annual influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required
- Completion of required competency exams (medication/pharmacology, EKG/dysrhythmia, IV therapy/infusion) within 72 hours of signing
- Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication competency with remediation policy
- Completion of facility-specific annual education and safety training
References & Work History
- Two references within the last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference
- Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history
- Work history verification for at least 1 year prior to start date (New Jersey state requirement)

- Candidates must be flexible to float within their skillset based on census and patient acuity

- Facility allows calling off 1 shift per 2 weeks
