Job Opportunity: Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) - Acute Care

Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 20 weeks
Shift: Day shift, Tuesday - Saturday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (5x8 hour shifts)
Hours per Week: 40 hours


Job Description

  • Provide acute care speech-language pathology services.
  • Work with patients diagnosed with stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), other neurological conditions, general medical/surgical, orthopedic, and critical care cases.
  • Perform Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies (MBS required).
  • Utilize EPIC electronic health record system.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Speech Language Pathologist license in North Carolina.
  • Minimum 1 year of Speech Language Pathologist experience within the last year.
  • CCC-SLP (Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology).
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • Recent experience with Modified Barium Swallow studies.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
  • Social Security Card (required for badge issuance).
  • Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years.
  • Education verification by a third party, including foreign equivalency evaluation if education was obtained outside the U.S.
  • Employment application/resume with 7 years of work history.
  • Verification of all employment within the last 5 years.
  • Two supervisory references from clinical assignments within the last 24 months.
  • Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal.
  • Facility-specific documents including health history form, dress code acknowledgment, floating policy, and contractor equipment acknowledgment.
  • Badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire, forward-facing).
  • Pass/fail testing acknowledgment for EPIC and Dysrhythmia/EKG exams (if applicable).
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam (if applicable).
  • Fit mask test (annual, specific approved N95 respirators required).
  • Adult Tdap vaccination proof.
  • Negative TB test (Qgold/TSPOT) within 6 months or chest X-ray if positive history.
  • TB questionnaire within 30 days of start and updated annually.
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines.
  • Hepatitis B: Titer or declination with booster series as applicable.
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines.
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (must be on file prior to clearance).

Testing & Competency Exams

  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam (as applicable).
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for all RNs except Behavioral Health or Case Managers (note: awareness required).
  • EPIC test required for allied health professionals, including SLPs.
  • Pass/fail testing with two attempts allowed; failure may result in contract cancellation.

Additional Notes

  • Candidate must be aware of and comply with all facility policies and deadlines, including compliance document submission deadlines.
  • Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted.
  • Candidate must be flexible with scheduling and punctuality.
  • Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not applicable here).
  • Workday login and onboarding tasks must be completed prior to start.

This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic acute care hospital setting with a diverse patient population requiring specialized speech-language pathology services.
