Job Opportunity: Wound Care Nurse (Registered Nurse)

Schedule
- Day shift, Monday to Friday
- Standard: 5 days x 8 hours (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
- Alternative: 4 days x 10 hours (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM) may be considered
- Holidays required as scheduled
- No weekends or on-call required
- Floating within specialty to downtown campus may be required
Patient Population & Unit Details
- Patient age range: All age groups
- Average census: ~15 patients per day
- Patient diagnoses: Pressure injuries, chronic/acute wounds, ostomies
- Work involves wound care team rounds on 4 to 5 units daily
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
- Minimum 1 year of wound care experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- I-9 attestation and E-Verify compliance
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and state-specific exclusions
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask models accepted)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if working with children)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines/boosters)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination; series not accepted)
- Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines/boosters)
- Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required for 2025-26 season
- TB testing: Negative QGOLD or TSPOT within 1 year, or 2-step PPD as applicable; must be updated annually
- COVID vaccine not required for this location but documentation collected for tracking
- Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
- Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
- Verification of previous 5 years of employment history
Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (score 80%+)
- Age-specific competency exam (score 80%+)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (score 80%+)
- Color blindness testing (required for clinical roles)
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Passport-style photo with solid white or beige background for badge
- Confidentiality agreement and standards of conduct must be signed prior to start
- Badge ID application and other onboarding paperwork must be completed timely
- Epic Portfolio Training Test Out form may be applicable for experienced Epic users
This position offers a focused wound care nursing role on a day shift schedule with a supportive team environment and a variety of patient diagnoses related to wounds and ostomies. It is suitable for RNs with wound care certification or those interested in specializing in this area.
