Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Tech Maternal Fetal

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Work Schedule

  • Monday to Thursday: 7:45 AM – 5:00 PM (4x8)
  • Friday: 7:45 AM – 1:00 PM (1x5)
  • No call, float, or weekend requirements

Patient Population

  • Adolescents and Adults
  • Maternal-Fetal Medicine clinic focusing on high-risk pregnancy

Patient Diagnoses & Procedures

  • Ultrasounds for a variety of high-risk pregnancy diagnoses
  • Special procedure: Amniocentesis

Work Environment

  • Average daily census: 12 visits/day, 6 ultrasound rooms
  • Sonographers typically scan 10-12 patients daily with a variety of full anatomy, follow-up scans, growths, and dopplers
  • Documentation completed in EPIC and ASOB systems
  • Equipment includes Samsung HR ultrasound machines and Trophon for cleaning vaginal probes
  • Orientation: 40 hours with support from full-time sonographers
  • Scrubs: Not provided (Royal Blue recommended)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonography license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonography experience
  • Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonography experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • ARDMS certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with High Risk OB & Obstetrics
  • Knowledge of Isolation Precautions and PPE

Orientation & Start Details

  • Orientation attendance is mandatory; missing any portion may delay or cancel start
  • Start dates may vary; travelers must be fully available with no other commitments during orientation week

Compliance and Background Requirements

  • Background checks required within 90 days of start, including local county, federal court, national criminal database, DOJ sex offender search, and education verification for highest degree earned
  • Drug screening required within 30 days of start (10-panel, negative result)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start; if past positive TB, physical within 30 days required
  • Fit testing required (N95 mask or PAPR training)
  • Immunizations and titers required or boosters for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (facility-specific declination form if titer negative/equivocal)
  • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1–10/31)
  • TB testing within 1 year (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) with follow-up as needed
  • Required state-specific registry and exclusion list checks within 90 days prior to start

Documentation and Compliance

  • Must complete facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreement, education roster, tobacco-free campus acknowledgement, clinical education checklist, medication safety training, hospital policies, and annual compliance training
  • Must complete Non-Novant Health Worker Orientation if applicable
  • Must provide a passport-style photo for badge creation (solid white background, business attire, no head coverings except glasses)
  • Must complete Corp ID and I-Learn account setup prior to start
  • References: 2 professional references within 3 years for travel allied and acute care; 1 for per diem non-acute care
  • Employment application and skills checklist required

This position is ideal for experienced maternal fetal ultrasound technologists with prior travel experience seeking a 13-week contract in a high-risk OB outpatient clinic setting with no call or weekend requirements.
