Description

Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Issaquah, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in Labor and Delivery with patient diagnoses including labor and preterm labor.
  • Unit includes 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms.
  • Responsibilities include circulating, OB-GYN care, post-op, pre-op, scrub, low risk antepartum, and low risk labor and delivery.
  • Special procedures: blood/blood products administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, use of cooling/warming blankets, drains, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, syringe pumps, wound vac, and administration of heparin, insulin, magnesium sulfate.
  • Attend all deliveries including high-risk deliveries and GYN surgeries.
  • Provide couplet care, low risk antepartum, and transition nursery care.
  • Staffing ratio ranges from 1:1 to 1:3.
  • Floating to postpartum or NICU units may be required based on skill set.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington.
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Experience with Epic electronic medical record system.
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
    • Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN)
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID and Social Security Card.
  • Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; must be updated annually.
  • Education verification and transcript/diploma if internationally educated.
  • State-specific background checks and registry searches as applicable.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work.
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years or declination accepted.
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination.
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
    • Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or declination.
    • COVID-19 vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies.
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 12 months of start.
  • Respiratory safety clearance for respirator use, medically cleared annually.
  • Annual completion of regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp).
  • Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background).

Additional Requirements

  • Must acknowledge and comply with float policy; may be required to float to other units or facilities within reasonable distance.
  • Minimum of 2 professional references covering at least 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
  • Employment application covering at least the last 5 years of employment with explanations for any gaps or overlaps.
  • Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units.

Work Environment & Staffing

  • Day shift with 36 hours per week (3 shifts of 12 hours).
  • Staffing ratios vary from 1:1 to 1:3 depending on patient acuity.
  • Opportunity to work in a high-acuity Labor and Delivery unit with exposure to a variety of OB-GYN procedures and patient care scenarios.

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery nurses with prior travel contract experience who are proficient in Epic and hold the required certifications.
