Job Opportunity: Antepartum Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Shift: Night, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3 shifts of 12 hours each)
Hours per Week: 36
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work primarily in the Antepartum core department with float duties to Labor and Delivery, Mother Baby unit, and occasionally to other birthplaces or patient sitter needs.
- Float assignments predominantly to Labor and Delivery.
- No call requirement.
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend.
- Must be credentialed/certified in fetal monitoring and proficient with EPIC electronic health record system.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with ED experience within the last year.
- Experience in Labor and Delivery.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Complete E-Verify process as required by contract.
- Criminal background check within 45 days of start, including lifetime search from age 18, SSN trace, national/statewide criminal and sex offender searches, education verification, and motor vehicle record check.
- Michigan LARA fingerprinting required within 45 days of start if applicable (not typically for this role unless specified).
- Michigan Central Registry Clearance required for Labor & Delivery and pediatric-related placements; wet signature required on forms.
- Complete a full 7-year work history with no gaps, dated MM/YYYY or “Present.”
- Annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency exam with a passing score of at least 80%.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date.
- Negative TB test (PPD or Q Gold/T-Spot) within 30 days of start; if positive, chest x-ray and TB questionnaire required.
- Immunizations required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (proof of at least one prior Tdap vaccine)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer, no exemptions)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer, no exemptions)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or documented declination)
- Drug screening: 10-panel including Marijuana/THC within 30 days of start (instant/rapid acceptable if 10-panel).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/spiritual exemption required for candidates starting after November 1; exemption requests must be submitted within 48 hours of contract signing.
Facility Policies and Additional Requirements
- Review and sign the facility’s Code of Conduct and Appearance Standards Policy prior to start.
- Fit testing for N95 respirators required if working onsite; appointment must be scheduled and documented.
- Medical exemption and vaccine exemption forms must be completed and approved if applicable.
- References and employment application must be complete and accurate.
Summary
This is a 13-week travel Registered Nurse position working night shifts in Antepartum with float responsibilities to Labor and Delivery and Mother Baby units. The role requires fetal monitoring certification, proficiency with EPIC, and standard nursing certifications (ACLS, BLS). Candidates must comply with extensive background checks, immunization requirements, and facility-specific policies. Weekend work every other weekend is required, with no call duties.
