Description

Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (Travel/Contract)

Location: Warrensville Heights, Ohio
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 hours/week)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Provide nursing care on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit during night shifts.
  • Must have recent and permanent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry nursing.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio.
  • Minimum 1.5 years of telemetry nursing experience, with telemetry experience within the last year.
  • Current ACLS certification.
  • Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid Ohio RN license or compact state license in hand.
  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.

Work Requirements

  • Must work at least every other holiday.
  • Pass facility baseline competency exams during orientation:
    • ECG rhythm recognition test (minimum 80% passing score)
    • SafeMedicate medication administration exam (minimum 90% passing score)

Background & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
  • Background check required prior to start; must be updated annually and after breaks in service of 2+ months.
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually; must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
  • Primary source verification of RN license and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
  • Fit mask (N95) fit test within 12 months of start and updated annually.
  • Immunization and health requirements including:
    • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per protocol
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers with boosters if needed
    • Hepatitis B vaccination/titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed
    • Annual flu vaccination (no declinations accepted) or approved medical/religious exemption
  • Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
  • Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start.

Orientation & Training

  • Completion of facility-specific online onboarding modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
  • Modules include training videos and tests that cannot be skipped.
  • Baseline competency exams (medication and ECG) completed during orientation.
  • SafeMedicate prep materials provided before orientation exam.
  • PBDS Assessment waived for this assignment.

References & Employment History

  • Two professional references required from employment within the past year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
  • Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be prepared to complete fingerprinting and health documentation promptly to avoid delays.
  • Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification.
  • Candidates with gaps in employment longer than 6 months at this facility may need to retake modules and competency exams.
  • Travelers must comply with all facility and agency documentation and verification processes.

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or a compact state, seeking a night shift travel assignment with a reputable healthcare facility.
