Job Opportunity: CVOR Tech
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift Details
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Call Requirement: 90-120 hours of call over a 6-week period
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Surgical Services
- Experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center required
- Surgical case experience including (but not limited to):
- Vascular and Thoracic surgeries
- Procedures such as Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Atherectomy, Atrial Septal Defect Repair, Cardiomyoplasty, Carotid Endarterectomy, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft, Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR), Femoral Popliteal Bypass Graft, Laparoscopic Cardiac Surgery, Mitral Valve Replacement, Pericardial Window, Robotic Assisted Cardiac Surgery, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair (TEVAR), Ventricular Assist Device (VAD), Heart & Lung Transplant, Valve Replacement, and Aortic Dissection
- Skilled in receiving pump lines from perfusion and preparing them for cannulation
Note: First-time travelers are accepted if they have Level 1 Trauma experience.
Required Certifications
- BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
- NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)
Licensing
- Must hold a valid license appropriate for the CVOR Tech role
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy required)
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 90 days of start, including:
- 7-year residential/work history
- SSN Trace, County Criminal, Statewide, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level III
- Education verification (official transcript or diploma)
- International search if lived/worked outside the US in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (including amphetamines, marijuana, cocaine, opiates, PCP)
- Employment application covering 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Minimum 2 professional references from recent employment verified within 2 years
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific respirators approved)
- Tuberculosis test (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year of start
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella (Chickenpox)
- Hepatitis B (series, titer, or signed declination)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine preferred but not required
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season (9/30 - 3/31)
- Color blind exam (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score
Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (not required for techs or RRTs)
- Unit competency exam
- Skills checklist completed within 12 months and annually thereafter
Additional Notes
- Indiana RNs are restricted from starting new contracts after 9/9/2024 unless exempt (Periop/OR RN’s, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers are exempt)
- Facility-specific orientation and compliance forms must be completed as a priority
- On-site fit testing available only as a last resort and with prior approval
- Mandatory safety and confidentiality acknowledgments required
Requirements/Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a CVOR Technologist
- CVOR Technologist experience within the last year
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) certification
This position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity for experienced CVOR Techs with trauma and advanced surgical experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center setting.
