Description

ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Cottonwood, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Overview

  • Position involves primarily ICU nursing with floating to Medical-Surgical Telemetry (MS Tele) units as needed.
  • Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM).
  • Patient Ratios: ICU 1:1 or 1:2; Med-Surg Telemetry 1:4 or 1:5.
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
  • Guaranteed 36 hours per week; facility may call off up to 6 shifts during the 13-week assignment.
  • Work environment includes use of standard med-surg/telemetry equipment and Liko lifts in most patient rooms.
  • Facility type: Short Term Acute Care, Teaching hospital, Level IV trauma center.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Arizona
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including ICU experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Additional Requirements & Compliance

  • Must complete a facility-specific job description form prior to start.
  • Must adhere to facility quality and patient safety standards, including medication administration protocols (BCMA).
  • Must complete and sign facility policies on confidentiality, substance abuse screening, professional attire, and appearance prior to start.
  • Must answer and sign a security question form at least one week before start.
  • Must complete travel information verification prior to start.
  • Must provide two professional references (one from most recent employer within 1 year, second within 2 years).
  • Employment application required with 3 years of work history; gaps over 30 days must be documented with city and state.

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to perform essential job functions.
  • Negative TB test (PPD, Q Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year, updated annually; chest x-ray and TB questionnaire required for past positives.
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination accepted)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred within last 10 years or declination)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination form required; decliners must wear a mask when not eating or drinking.
  • COVID vaccination series or declination with facility-specific form required.
  • Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug test within 30 days of start, updated annually.
  • Fit mask test (N95) required within 1 year and updated annually; onsite fit testing available if needed.

Scheduling & Work Conditions

  • Floating required between ICU and Med-Surg Telemetry units based on unit needs.
  • Blocked scheduling may be considered with unit manager approval.
  • No on-call duties.
  • Free parking available.
  • Charting system: Cerner.
  • Scrub color: Navy blue.

Notes for Candidates

  • Facility seeks well-rounded nurses comfortable with floating and working in a flex pool environment.
  • ICU/PCU experience is a plus but strong Med-Surg Telemetry experience is acceptable.
  • Must be willing to work night shifts and every other weekend.
  • Prior travel experience is not required.

This position offers an opportunity to work in a teaching hospital with a Level IV trauma designation, providing critical care nursing in a dynamic environment with supportive staffing ratios.
