Description
Registered Nurse – Acute Care
Location: Hot Springs, South Dakota
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour varied shifts
Hours per Week: 36
Job Summary
Provide high-quality nursing care in an acute care setting, delivering hands-on patient care and coordinating with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. This role involves assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patient care, along with leadership responsibilities for assigned staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe and effective nursing care following the South Dakota Nurse Practice Act and facility policies.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans involving patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Administer medications, fluids, and respiratory treatments as prescribed.
- Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient status and interventions.
- Educate patients and families about medications, treatments, and post-discharge care.
- Prioritize tasks and organize time to provide timely patient care.
- Ensure consistent adherence to infection control and safety policies.
- Provide leadership and guidance to assigned staff, supporting continuity and quality of care.
- Assist in orientation and training of new team members.
- Participate in continuing education to maintain and enhance professional competence.
- Foster a positive, collaborative work culture through effective communication and teamwork.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Dakota
- Minimum of 1 year of acute care experience, with acute care experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
