Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts of 12 hours each, 18:45 – 07:15)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Description
Seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide care across multiple patient populations including neonates and pediatrics. Work settings include Emergency Department, Critical Care ICU, and med/surgical floors in a community hospital respiratory department. Responsibilities include airway management, medication administration, arterial blood gases (ABGs), ventilator and non-invasive ventilation (NIV) management, nebulizer treatments, pulmonary toileting, and use of bronchoscopes, BiPAP, and CPAP.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with neonate patients
- Experience working with pediatric patients
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Experience with bronchoscopes
- Experience with BiPAP
Orientation & Systems
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Electronic Medical Record: EPIC
- Scrubs: Not provided; black scrubs recommended
Additional Information
- RTO (Return to Office) Policy: No RTO after booking allowed; call-offs or additional RTO may lead to cancellation.
- Traveler Experience: First-time travelers are accepted.
- Interview: Manager requires an interview before approval.
- Preferred: Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience is a plus.
Compliance & Requirements
- Background Checks: Must be completed within 90 days prior to start, including local, federal, national criminal databases, DOJ sex offender search, and education verification for highest degree related to profession.
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (or within 30 days if past positive TB).
- Fit testing for N95 mask or completion of PAPR training if fit test failed.
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray per protocol.
- Required immunizations or titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (facility-specific declination form if titer negative).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season.
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel, negative result required).
- Education & Competency:
- Transcript/diploma verification required for RRTs.
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
- Color blindness testing within 1 year.
- Facility Specific Documents: Confidentiality agreement, hospital policies acknowledgment, medication safety training, and other orientation modules required.
- References: Two professional references within 3 years required for travel allied health positions.
