Description
ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Athens, Texas
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
- Unit size: 10 beds
- Employment type: Travel/Contract
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, with ICU experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID
- E-Verify compliance or attestation as applicable
- Background checks including:
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks upon hire
- Education verification (highest level of education must be verified)
- Work history verification for the past 7 years
- Skills checklist specific to the unit, updated annually
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (no declinations except approved medical exemptions)
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest X-ray if positive history
- TB questionnaire if applicable, renewed annually
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, full series, or declination accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented chickenpox history required; boosters if titers negative or equivocal
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
Additional Information
- Candidates residing in certain Texas counties are not eligible for travel contracts in this location (counties include Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris)
- Clear headshot photo required for badge issuance
- Orientation and safety manual acknowledgment required
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests required as applicable, with minimum passing scores
- Fingerprinting required only for New Mexico placements (not applicable here)
