Description

RN - Postpartum / Mom Baby (Travel)

Location

  • Wichita, Kansas

Job Type

  • Travel assignment
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Hours per week: 36

Unit Information

  • Postpartum unit on 5th floor, main building
  • 29 beds plus 8 overflow
  • Staff: ~50 (day and night shifts)
  • Patient ratio: Approximately 3-4 couplets per RN (estimated)
  • Equipment: Welch Allen vitals machines, CPN monitors, Point-of-Care glucose monitoring
  • EMR system: Meditech / CPN

Typical Procedures

  • Point-of-Care glucose monitoring
  • Breastfeeding support
  • Postpartum hemorrhage management
  • Assisting with circumcision
  • Hypertension assessment and management

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Kansas
  • Minimum 1 year of postpartum nursing experience, with experience within the last year
  • BLS certification
  • NRP certification
  • De-escalation skills in a healthcare setting
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with high-risk postpartum patients
  • Level 2 Nursery experience

Work Environment & Culture

  • Close-knit, team-oriented unit with nurses and patient care technicians working collaboratively
  • Busy postpartum unit with mostly high-risk patients (low-risk patients are cared for at a separate facility)
  • Flexible scheduling with willingness to accommodate travelers
  • Must adhere to hospital standards of behavior (HCA ICARE)
