Description
Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Monticello, Minnesota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in a 6-bed Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) unit.
- Responsibilities include Labor and Delivery, Postpartum care, Triage, Antepartum care, Normal Newborn care, and Special Care Nursery infants (including infant IV starts and high flow oxygen management).
- Patient population includes pregnancies of 36 weeks gestation or higher.
- Schedule includes every third weekend.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Minnesota.
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, with experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- AWHONN Intermediate certification.
- Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience working with neonate patients.
Certifications & Competencies
- Annual medication/pharmacology competency exam required (not required for NICU RNs).
- Background checks including criminal, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and OIG exclusions.
- Primary source verification of state license.
- Education verification required.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask testing (N95) required.
- Tdap vaccination required (no religious declinations accepted).
- TB screening per Minnesota state guidelines (2-step PPD or equivalent).
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella.
- Hepatitis B vaccination, positive titer, or declination.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (mask required if declined).
- Drug testing within 1 year of start (9-panel acceptable).
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 1 year, including 7-year search, sex offender, nationwide, and international checks if applicable.
- Minnesota DHS NetStudy fingerprinting and clearance required prior to start; candidates cannot start with fingerprints pending unless approved with a “more time needed” letter.
- Candidates must complete a Minnesota DHS NetStudy questionnaire immediately after signing the contract.
- Two professional references from recent employers within 2 years required.
- Skills checklist required for all clinical candidates.
- Confidentiality agreement must be signed prior to start.
- Photo for badge required (grey background, no selfies, JPG format).
Additional Information
- Education modules will be completed during orientation (average 16 hours).
- Dress code must be reviewed prior to start.
- Candidates must return badges to management on last day of assignment.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
