Description

Progressive Care Unit RN - Contract Opportunity

Location: Great Falls, Montana
Employment Type: Contract
Shift: Day
Hours per Week: 36
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Provide nursing care to hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients in a Progressive Care/Step Down unit. Patient populations include pediatrics, post PCI care, pacemaker patients, revascularization, carotid endarterectomy, thoracotomy, CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure, DVT, PE, sepsis, and various surgical cases. Care involves physical, emotional, spiritual, and cultural support.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing patients with central lines, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, arterial lines, multiple IVs, and short-term ventilatory support.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure effective patient care and outcomes.
  • Acting as a clinical leader and assisting with staff precepting.
  • Providing direct care from admission through discharge, including discharge planning.
  • Giving directions to RN, LPN, CNA, housekeeping, and dietary staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Montana
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 3 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS certification
  • PALS certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pediatric nursing experience.
  • Experience in post-heart catheterization care.
  • Certifications such as EPNC and TNCC.

Skills and Abilities

  • Use of multiple IV pumps and basic office equipment.
  • Skilled assessment and intervention for patients with potential deteriorating conditions.
  • Ability to implement policies and procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills within a multidisciplinary team.

Additional Information

  • Prior travel experience is required for this role.
