Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Nursery
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Day (3 shifts of 12 hours each, 6:50 AM – 7:20 PM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a Special Care Nursery (Level II) with 36 hours per week, day shift.
- Responsibilities include floating to postpartum for baby care assignments.
- Every other weekend work required.
- Scrubs provided.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum 2 years of Nursery experience, including experience within the last year.
- Experience in Charge nurse roles.
- Labor and Delivery experience.
- Completion of at least one prior travel assignment.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC certified.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
- STABLE certification.
Additional Requirements & Compliance
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years.
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information.
- Valid driver's license required if driving is an essential job function.
- Background check within 90 days of start, including criminal, education verification, and other required screenings.
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana).
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
- Immunizations and health documentation required:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year.
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred.
- Documentation of MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) and Varicella immunity or vaccination.
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination.
- Annual flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (September 23 – March 31).
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start date.
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and EKG/dysrhythmia testing as applicable.
Notes
- Must be able to pass required competency exams with a minimum score of 80%.
- EKG competency exam required for certain specialty units; remediation available if needed.
- Facility-specific photo for badge required.
- Annual safety manual acknowledgment required.
- N95 fit test within 9 months of start and updated annually (client may complete on-site if needed).
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with neonatal and delivery room expertise who have prior travel or per diem experience and are seeking a 13-week travel contract on day shift in a Special Care Nursery setting.
