Description

Registered Nurse - ER (Emergency Room)

Location: Owatonna, Minnesota
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night shift, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
  • Weekend Requirement: Work every third weekend
  • Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in Emergency Department (General Emergency Department - Combined Adult/Pedi, Non-Trauma)
  • First-time travelers: Accepted
  • Floating: May float within scope as needed
  • Locals: Not accepted within 100-mile radius
  • Pending License: Accepted
  • Return to Office Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Minnesota
  • Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Current PALS certification
  • Experience working with adult and pediatric patients
  • Cardiac monitoring experience, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
  • IV therapy experience, including arterial line management, blood product administration, and central line care/management

Required Background and Health Checks

  • Criminal background check within 1 year (7-year statewide MN search required)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 1 year
  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
  • Immunizations and health requirements:
    • Adult Tdap (no declinations accepted without exemption approval)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 12 months)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required (no exemptions for patient-facing roles)
    • Hepatitis B: Positive IGG titer, proof of series, or signed declination
    • Varicella: Positive IGG titer or 2 vaccines (no exemptions accepted)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-26 season (declinations accepted)
  • Drug testing: 9-panel within 1 year (not required for client clearance)
  • OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance required prior to start

Licensing

  • Must hold a valid Minnesota Registered Nurse license
  • Primary source verification of license required
  • Fingerprinting: Must complete Minnesota DHS Net Study Questionnaire immediately after signing contract and complete fingerprinting within 2 weeks (no start with fingerprints pending unless approved "more time needed" letter)

Orientation and Training

  • Completion of facility-specific online preorientation modules within 72 hours of receiving login (approx. 12 hours for ER RN)
  • Modules must be completed before clearance to start
  • Badge photo required within 48 hours of signing contract (passport style, plain background)

Additional Notes

  • Candidate may be cancelled up to 3 shifts without penalty to the client or agency
  • References are not required for client clearance and will not delay start
  • Candidate must be able to work within the scope of practice and float as needed
  • No block scheduling accommodations available

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of ER experience, comfortable working night shifts in a Level 4 Trauma Center, and able to meet all certification, licensing, and health requirements for Minnesota.
