Description
Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery (Travel Assignment)
Location: Georgetown, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Hours per Week: 36
On-Call: No on-call required for this position
Unit Overview
- Labor and Delivery/Postpartum/Special Care Nursery unit with 23 beds total (12 Labor, 11 Postpartum)
- Approximately 59 staff members on unit
- Patient Ratios:
- Labor: 1:2 (unless high risk)
- Postpartum couplets: up to 1:4 (ideally 1:3)
- Equipment includes Alaris Pumps, Giraffe Warmers, GE Fetal Monitors, Monica wireless monitoring, Giraffe Isolette
- Electronic Medical Records: GE Centricity/CPN & Meditech
- Unit culture emphasizes a positive, friendly, and proactive team environment
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of recent Labor and Delivery nursing experience within the last year
- Postpartum nursing experience
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
- Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) certification
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience in Labor & Delivery/Postpartum within the last year is mandatory
- Preferred:
- LDRP experience (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) including mother/baby care, postpartum, OR circulator (cesarean section), well-baby nursery, NICU or special care nursery
- NICU or transition/baby catching experience
- STABLE certification (optional)
- Familiarity with typical unit procedures such as cervical ripening, induction of labor (Pitocin), magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, care of high-risk/Level II maternal patients, C-sections, tubal ligations, cerclage removals, fetal demise care
Schedule and Call Details
- Rotating weekends approximately every other weekend
- Call coverage:
- CNCs take call 1 weekend every 6 weeks
- Manager/Director hold all other call dates
- Staff RNs are not responsible for call unless scheduled and put on call
Dress Code
- Navy blue scrubs required (travelers do not need the embroidered stork symbol)
- Pink badge required
Additional Information
- Permanent RN positions available on unit for day and evening shifts
- No Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) employed on this floor; focus on RNs and CSTs when contract labor is needed
- Unit recognized as 2022 Unit of Distinction nominee with highest nurse and physician engagement scores in the Austin market for women’s services
- Plans to open Level II NICU in late 2024
