Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - ER
Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Description
- Work in the Emergency Room (ER) setting.
- Expected to be clocked in and ready for report at the start of each shift.
- Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend and holidays as needed (holiday time off cannot be guaranteed).
- No call or float requirements.
- Block scheduling is not available.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan.
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Required Certifications:
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- PALS (American Heart Association)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
Preferred Qualifications
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 45 days of start, including lifetime search from age 18.
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
- Michigan LARA fingerprinting required within 45 days of start for certain positions (not typically required for ER RN but verify if applicable).
- Education verification with copy of highest degree or diploma.
- Michigan Central Registry Clearance required for pediatric and certain specialty placements (verify if applicable).
- Professional reference: One supervisor/manager reference required.
- Complete employment application/resume with full 7 years work history, no gaps.
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Negative TB test (PPD or Q Gold/Tspot) within 30 days of start; if positive, chest x-ray and TB questionnaire required.
- Annual TB questionnaire.
- Proof of immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B: Titer, series, or facility declination required.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Proof of at least one prior Tdap vaccine.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/spiritual exemption required for candidates starting after November 1.
- 10-panel drug test including Marijuana/THC within 30 days of start.
Competency Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam completed within 1 year prior to assignment start with a passing score of at least 80%.
- Competency exam in specialty completed within 1 year prior to assignment start with a passing score of at least 80%.
Facility Policies and Documentation
- Review and sign the facility Code of Conduct and Appearance Standards Policy prior to start.
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required.
- If declining Hepatitis B vaccine or titer, complete HepB Declination form.
- Fit testing required if working onsite (specific to certain roles; confirm if applicable).
- Personal or auto insurance required only for Home Health roles (not applicable here).
