Job Opportunity: Radiation Therapist
Location: Lubbock, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 6 weeks (interpreted from contract_length = 6)
Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (7:00 AM - 3:00 PM)
Patient Ratio: Approximately 20 patients per therapist
Facility Type: Children’s Hospital / Level II Pediatric Trauma Center
Total Beds: 181
Job Details
- Position does not float between units
- No on-call required
- No weekend or block schedules required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiation Therapist license in Texas
- Minimum of 1 year of Radiation Therapist experience
- Radiation Therapist experience within the last year
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Fit mask test required (annual update), completed onsite if no valid record within 1 year
- Immunizations and screenings required:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual update required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
- 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use
Background & Compliance
- Background check within 90 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
- Education verification required
- Employment application covering last 5 years of employment required
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting
- Various state-specific background checks and attestations may apply depending on placement location
Competencies & Training
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Competency exams required as applicable by specialty
- Color blindness testing may be required on a unit basis
- Annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules required via LMS (Workramp)
- Epic training modules may be required depending on facility
Additional Information
- Free parking available in unrestricted spaces; bike racks available
- Scrub color: Navy for RNs, Galaxy Blue/Royal Blue for RRTs (informational)
- Radiation badges issued by facility (not required pre-hire)
- Float policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to nearby facilities within reasonable distance
