Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: Christiansburg, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Provide respiratory therapy services for both adult and pediatric patients (peds low acuity).
• Work primarily night shifts: 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) every other week; 4x12-hour shifts may be available upon request.
• Floating within your skillset may be required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Virginia
• Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapist experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel assignment
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
• Experience working with adult patients
• Experience working with pediatric patients
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system

Scheduling & Work Conditions

• Shift hours: Night shift, 12-hour shifts.
• Must work at least one holiday during the 13-week contract.
• Call-off policy allows one shift off per two weeks.
• No first-time travelers accepted; prior travel experience required.
• Local candidates not accepted due to radius restrictions.

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Valid Driver’s License or State ID with an address more than 100 miles from the facility required within 48 hours of signing.
• Background check covering 7 years of history required within 1 year of start date.
• E-Verify or attestation required.
• Education verification and transcript/diploma required.
• Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start.
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start.
• Physical exam within 1 year confirming freedom from communicable diseases.
• Fit test for respiratory masks within 1 year, updated annually.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually.
• Required immunizations or positive titers for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella
• TB questionnaire required for all candidates.
• Photo for badge required (professional quality, plain background).
• Completion of facility-specific new hire paperwork and orientation materials prior to start.
• Two clinical references required.
• Annual update of skills checklist required.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must submit all requests for time off (RTO) with their application.
• VA State Police Search will be completed onsite on the first day of orientation if applicable.
• Candidates must comply with facility-specific access and confidentiality agreements.
• Candidates must acknowledge and complete orientation safety manuals and HIPAA training as required.

This position is ideal for experienced respiratory therapists with prior travel contract experience seeking a 13-week assignment on night shifts in a critical care setting serving both adult and pediatric patients.
