OR Tech / Surgical Tech - Travel/Contract

Location: Glen Burnie, Maryland
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Shift: Rotating 3 shifts of 12 hours (Day/Mid shifts: 09:00-21:30 / 11:00-23:30)
Hours per Week: 36

Job Description

• Scrub ability required for General, Orthopedic, Neurosurgery, Vascular, Gynecology, Genitourinary, and Robotic surgeries.
• Endovascular experience preferred but not required.
• Patient population: Adults to Geriatrics.
• Operating rooms: 11 rooms with a 1:1 tech-to-room ratio.
• Holidays, weekends (4 per contract, may be call or working shifts), floating within specialty, and on-call (8 or 12-hour shifts on weekends) are required as scheduled.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist, including experience within the last year.
• Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID and valid driver’s license.
• I-9 attestation and E-Verify compliance.
• Background check including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, nationwide and county searches, sex offender registry, OFAC, education verification, and state-specific exclusions. Felonies within 5 years are disqualifying.
• Two supervisory references within 1 year of start.
• Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start.
• Verification of previous 5 years of work history (attestation accepted if necessary).
• Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start.

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Fit test for respirator mask within 1 year of start; must be medically cleared to wear respirator.
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted).
• Immunizations/vaccinations or proof of immunity required for:

  • Tuberculosis (negative QGOLD/TSPOT or 2-step PPD with annual updates)
  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination; series not accepted)
  • Varicella
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required if working with children; otherwise per unit policy)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 6 - Mar 31).
• COVID-19 vaccination not required for this location; exemptions accepted for tracking purposes only.

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Completion of facility-specific learning modules prior to start (unpaid).
• Submission of passport-style photo with solid white or beige background for badge.
• Completion of vehicle identification form prior to start.
• Completion of Pyxis Access Request Form after learning modules.
• Signing of confidentiality agreement and job description prior to start.
• Compliance with facility dress code and other orientation instructions.
• Epic training or test-out process may apply depending on prior Epic experience.

Additional Notes

• Floating within the surgical specialty and on-call weekend shifts are mandatory.
• Holidays are worked as scheduled.
• Weekend shifts may include call or working shifts.

This position is ideal for experienced Surgical Technologists comfortable with a wide variety of surgical specialties and flexible scheduling including weekends, holidays, and on-call duties.
