Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location: Middletown, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM (12-hour shifts)
Schedule: Every other weekend and holiday required
Attire: Hunter Green scrubs

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to work in Respiratory Care Services at a Level 3 Trauma hospital. The role primarily focuses on adult care areas and involves collaboration with medical staff, nursing, allied health practitioners, patients, and their families.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Ohio
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year
• Associate degree in Applied Science or equivalent, with a major in Respiratory Care
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• E-Verify compliance and I-9 documentation
• 7-year criminal background check including SSN trace, national/state checks, sex offender registry
• Education verification (primary source)
• Physical exam within 2 years indicating fitness for work and freedom from communicable diseases
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray; annual TB questionnaire if past positive
• Required vaccinations or immunity attestations: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (vaccination series, immune titer, or declination)
• Drug screening: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 12 months, including marijuana panel; lab work within 72 hours of contract signing
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
• Respiratory Safety Clearance within 1 year, renewed annually
• Two professional references within 2 years (one must be a manager/supervisor/charge RN) or employment verification if references unavailable
• Current resume/application
• Skills checklist updated within 1 year
• Unit-specific competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency within required timeframes

Additional Notes

• Fingerprinting is not required for this position
• The department operates 24/7 with responsibilities throughout the hospital
• Prior travel experience is not specified as required for this role
