Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - MS/Telemetry
Location
- Leonardtown, Maryland

Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Shift Details
- Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Weekend shifts required: 6 shifts in 6 weeks (every other weekend)
- Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 5 patients
Specialty & Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Adult Medical-Surgical Telemetry (MS/Tele)
- Minimum 2 years of MS/Telemetry nursing experience required
- Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment or one month of a per diem assignment
- Travelers are not expected to care for pediatric patients
Required Certifications & Exams
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC certified
- Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with:
- Minimum overall score of 80%
- 100% score on lethal rhythms section
- PALS certification is NOT required for this assignment
Licensure
- Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Maryland
Orientation
- Weekly orientation provided
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification of highest degree required by position
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
- I9/E-Verify attestation required prior to start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required prior to start and monthly thereafter
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon, or Tspot) within 1 year; if history of TB, additional documentation required
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Documentation of immunity or vaccination for:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Varicella (2 VZV vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
- Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 23 – Mar 31)
Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam within 3 years, minimum 80% score
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (Relias Dysrhythmia Basics A) within 1 year, minimum 80% overall and 100% lethal rhythms score; must be updated annually
- Color blindness testing (online or in-person) required
Documentation & Verification
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually
Additional Notes
- Valid driver’s license required if driving is an essential job function
- Facility-specific modules (SITELS) must be completed prior to start date
- Photo for badge must meet specified criteria (clear, centered, no glare, solid background)
- Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement required
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- At least one completed travel assignment or at least one month of a per diem assignment
- Current ACLS certification
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
