Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Olney, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Role: Emergency Room Registered Nurse
• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Hours per week: 36
• Schedule Requirements:

  • Every other weekend
  • Every other holiday
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of general adult and pediatric ED experience
• Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment or one month of per diem assignment
• Cerner electronic health record experience is required

Required Certifications and Exams

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC certified
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or ARC certified
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
• Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam:

  • Minimum overall score of 80%
  • 100% score on lethal rhythms section
  • Exam must be current within 1 year and updated annually

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse license in Maryland
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one prior travel assignment
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience working with both adult and pediatric patients in the ED
• Experience with Cerner electronic health record system
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• PALS certification
• NIHSS certification

Competency and Compliance Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam with minimum 80% score within 3 years
• Color blindness testing (online or in-person)
• Annual completion of facility-specific orientation and safety modules
• Annual acknowledgment of safety manual
• Annual TB questionnaire (required for all candidates)
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to and during employment

Additional Notes

• A valid driver’s license is required if driving is an essential job function
• Candidates must complete facility-specific training modules prior to start date
• Background check must be updated every 3 years or if there is a 6-month gap in service
• Drug screen excludes marijuana but includes multiple other substances
• Flu vaccine must be obtained outside the facility; strict exemption policies apply
