Description
ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Huntington, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Summary
- Provide critical care nursing in an ICU setting.
- Requires past critical care experience.
- Cerner electronic health record experience is highly preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia.
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, with ICU experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred but not required.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks:
- 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually.
- Background check within 30 days of start.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals.
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands.
- Drug screen within 30 days of start, including a comprehensive panel of substances.
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (QGold or T-Spot within 6 months, updated annually)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines
- Hepatitis A and C antibody tests within 6 months (Hepatitis C RNA PCR if positive)
- Hepatitis B surface antibody and antigen titer within 6 months, with vaccination series or declination form
- Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines
- Seasonal flu vaccine required annually (exemptions require approval)
- COVID-19 seasonal vaccine required; initial series preferred (declination form required if opting out)
- Onsite N95 fit testing required; male candidates must be clean-shaven for fit test.
- Facility-specific orientation, annual education, confidentiality agreement, respiratory protection policy, and IT access forms must be completed prior to start.
- Religious and medical exemption forms for flu and vaccine requirements must be submitted and approved prior to start if applicable.
Additional Notes
- Facility will assign mandatory training modules to be completed within one week of start.
- Candidates must create an account for timekeeping prior to start.
- Performance evaluations and skills checklists may be required if previously employed with the staffing agency.
This position offers an opportunity to work in a regional academic medical center ICU with a focus on critical care nursing. Candidates must be prepared to meet comprehensive credentialing, immunization, and compliance requirements.
