Description
Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical
Location: Jefferson, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Medical Surgical
- Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (3 shifts of 12 hours each, option to sign 36 or 48 hours)
- Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 shifts plus one day of on-site training with educator)
- Float Requirement: None (may occasionally work as sitter or monitor tech)
- Scheduling: Self-schedule
- Unit Systems: Meditech, SBAR, Omnicell
- Scrubs: Navy color required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Compliance & Onboarding Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Local County, Federal Court, National Criminal Database, DOJ Sex Offender Search
- Education Verification for highest degree specific to nursing profession
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (within 30 days if past positive TB)
- Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 1 year of start; if positive, clear chest x-ray within 5 years and physician-signed TB questionnaire within 30 days of start
- Immunizations: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines each; boosters required if negative/equivocal titers)
- Hepatitis B: Titer or vaccination series; if negative/equivocal titer, must sign facility-specific Hep B declination
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1–10/31)
- Fit Testing: N95 mask fit test required within 1 year of start; PAPR training not accepted in this facility
- Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology competency as applicable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Not required for Medical Surgical specialty
- Orientation: Unit orientation shifts plus one day of on-site training with educator
- Interview: Manager interview required prior to offer

- Performance Evaluation: Required if worked with Aya over 1 year, updated annually

- The position does not require floating but may occasionally assist as sitter or monitor tech.
