Special Procedures Tech - Radiology

Location: Savannah, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit & Work Environment

  • Unit: Angiography / Interventional Radiology (IR) Labs
  • Number of Beds: 3 Angiography Labs (2 Dedicated IR Labs, 1 Hybrid OR)
  • Patient Ratio: 1:1
  • Staffing: Teams typically include Lead Tech, RN, ARRT/RTR, RCIS (3-4 person teams; ideal staffing is 2 Techs and 2 RNs)
  • Equipment Used: IVUS, Shockwave, Angio Jet, Jet Stream
  • Documentation System: EPIC Cupid
  • Shift Schedule: 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each, with on-call requirements
  • Dress Code: Royal blue and black for RNs; Navy blue and black for Techs
  • Patient Population: High acuity, including ICU and ER patients
  • Trauma Level: Level 1 Trauma Center
  • Stroke Center: Certified Stroke Center

Required Qualifications

  • Special Procedures Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Recent experience as a Special Procedures Technologist within the last year
  • ARRT Certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • De-escalation skills in a healthcare setting

Procedures Performed

  • Permcath placement
  • Port placement
  • Thrombectomy
  • Atherectomy
  • Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair (TVAR)
  • Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt (TIPS)
  • Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR)
  • Pulmonary Embolism (PE) interventions
  • Stroke and trauma-related procedures
