Location: St Johnsbury, Vermont

Job Overview

As an Operating Room RN, you will provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care across all surgical phases, including:

• Pre-operative preparation
• Intraoperative care (serving as circulator and scrub nurse)
• Post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) recovery

This role requires versatility and offers opportunities to cross-train and expand clinical skills. You will work in a critical access hospital setting where your contributions directly impact patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver perioperative nursing care throughout the surgical experience
• Function in multiple roles: circulator, scrub nurse, and PACU nurse
• Ensure patient safety and clinical excellence by adhering to AORN standards
• Accurately document care and participate in surgical safety processes such as time-outs
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary team members to provide coordinated, high-quality care
• Participate in on-call rotation: one night per week and every fourth weekend, with readiness to begin a case within 30 minutes when on call

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Vermont
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum of 1 year of recent PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) experience
• Perioperative nursing experience
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association

Additional Information

• Travelers start on Wednesdays
• During orientation week, hours may be adjusted due to midweek start
• Participation in on-call rotation is mandatory
