Medical Laboratory Technologist (Night Shift)
Location: Yuma, Colorado
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Perform and coordinate laboratory testing procedures and clinical data communication with medical staff.
- Conduct phlebotomy, including therapeutic phlebotomies, arterial and capillary specimen collections using age-appropriate techniques.
- Perform EKGs as part of duties.
- Clarify physician orders and respond to questions regarding orders, specimens, and results.
- Maintain standards for routine, timed, and STAT testing with appropriate prioritization.
- Share weekend and daily on-call responsibilities with other technologists.
- Assist in orientation and training of new employees.
- Maintain a clean, safe working environment and support workplace safety.
- Prepare and monitor quality control charts, perform instrument function checks and maintenance to ensure quality and consistency.
- Use quality assurance tools to identify and report hazards.
- Demonstrate competency in patient care delivery to optimize safety and reduce medical errors.
- Correlate test results with diagnoses and question incompatible results.
- Follow proper procedures for malfunctioning laboratory equipment and ensure continuity of care.
- Document preventive maintenance and report medical/health care errors appropriately.
Schedule
- Night Shift: 7 days on, 7 days off (Wednesday to Tuesday)
- Potential for on-call responsibilities
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Technologist, including experience within the last year.
- Experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician.
- Phlebotomy experience.
- EKG Technician experience.
- Certification/Registration with ASCP, NCA, NEW, or equivalent registry.
Additional Information
- Must demonstrate knowledge and responsibility in safety, chemical hygiene, infectious/exposure control, electrical safety, disaster, fire, compliance, and ethics plans.
- Broad knowledge of all laboratory departments required.
- Ability to use good judgment in responding to laboratory operation needs.
Hours
- Approximately 36 hours per week
