Registered Nurse (RN) – Stepdown (Nights)

Job Summary

• Provide professional and clinical nursing care as part of an interdisciplinary team in a Stepdown/Progressive Care setting.
• May be required to float within the same discipline across local campuses.
• Patient ratios:

  • Day shift: 1:4-5
  • Night shift: 1:5 to 1:6 (charge nurses assign based on cardiac experience for safety).
• Electronic Medical Record system used: EPIC.

Contract Length

• Approximately 13 weeks.

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license at time of submission.
• Minimum 2 years of recent Stepdown/Progressive Care experience, specifically with cardiac Stepdown patients.
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from AHA or American Red Cross.
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification from AHA or American Red Cross.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Skills checklist specific to Stepdown/Progressive Care discipline.
• Work history/resume must document at least 24 months of Stepdown/Progressive Care experience.
• Professional reference or performance evaluation from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, or equivalent within the last 24 months is preferred.

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are accepted; prior travel experience is not required.
• Orientation sessions are scheduled regularly throughout the year.
• Overtime and holiday pay multipliers apply (details not included here).

• Local candidates within 50 miles are eligible with adjusted terms.

Work Hours and Overtime

• Standard workweek: 36-40 hours; overtime billable after 40 hours.
• Alternative workweek: 48 hours; overtime billable after 48 hours.
