Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) - Travel Position

Location: Walterboro, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Employment Type: Travel

Unit Information

• Float between Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF) and Acute Hospital floor
• Rehab Unit: 14 beds
• Acute Care Hospital: 135 beds (includes 7-bed ICU)
• Staff: 3 PRN speech therapists supporting weekdays and weekends
• Shift: Day shift, 8-hour shifts with flexible start/stop times
• Weekend: 1 weekend per month required, with option to flex a weekday
• Patient Caseload:

  • Rehab patients: approx. 5-6 patients, 3-5 times per week depending on need
  • Acute care caseload varies
  • Outpatient modified sessions about 1x/week (usually 1 or 2 patients)
• Equipment: FEES (Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing)
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Call: None required

Required Qualifications

• Valid Speech Language Pathologist license in South Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Speech Language Pathologist, including experience within the last year
• ASHA Certification (CCC-SLP)
• BLS certification
• Experience with Modified Barium Swallow Study (MBSS)

Additional Preferences

• Experience in an acute hospital setting
• Ability to function independently and adapt to a fast-paced environment

Work Environment & Dress Code

• Scrub color: light grey tops and bottoms, or black pants
• Joint Commission Stroke Certified unit
• Recognized as a Top Performer nationally (Top 10%) for PEM

Hours

• Approximately 36 hours per week
• No night shifts

This position is ideal for SLPs seeking travel opportunities with a mix of rehab and acute care experience, requiring strong skills in MBSS and preferably FEES.
