Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (CRT) - Travel/Contract
Location: Greenville, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3 or 4 shifts of 12 hours per week)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Job Summary
Seeking a Respiratory Therapist with at least 2 years of experience, specializing in adult critical care. The role requires proficiency in respiratory care procedures and medication administration for adult and geriatric patients in a trauma Level 1 setting.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in South Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Proficient in nasal and oral airway placements
- Skilled in delivering medication through aerosol setup via tracheostomy
- Experienced with trach collar nebulizers
- Knowledgeable in high flow nasal cannula therapy
- Experienced in CPAP therapy
- Ability to troubleshoot high pressure alarms
- Skilled in weaning patients from mechanical ventilation
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Work Schedule & Policies
- Night shifts, typically 3 or 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each
- Weekend work every other weekend
- Facility allows call-off of 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Scheduling requests must be submitted and approved at booking

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- 7-year background check within 12 months of start
- Includes SS trace, aliases, state and county searches for all places lived/worked in last 7 years
- Federal and international searches as applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter
- Education Verification: Highest level of education must be verified (diplomas not accepted as placeholders)
- Drug Testing: 5-panel drug screen within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands
- Negative TB test (True 2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot) within 90 days of start
- Required immunizations or titers: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (vaccination series, positive titer, or declination)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within last 10 years if working in high-risk areas
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required by deadlines
- Fit Testing: Respirator fit test completed onsite during orientation
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with specific background and no obstructions required prior to start
- Online Modules: Must complete required online orientation modules within 72 hours of assignment
- Pass/Fail Testing: Medication and arrhythmia competency exams required prior to orientation with two attempts allowed; failure results in cancellation
- Core Competencies: Annual completion of Core Parts I, II, and III training including universal precautions, cultural diversity, pain management, harassment, fire safety, and patient rights
- Floating Policy: Must sign and comply with floating policy (not required for non-clinical roles)
Additional Notes
- Must carry a valid driver’s license on duty for computer access setup
- Local candidates accepted within a specified radius
- All scheduling and special requests must be approved by the facility
- Candidate must be prepared for floating to other qualified units as needed
This position offers an opportunity to work in a Level 1 trauma center with a focus on adult critical care respiratory therapy in a supportive travel contract environment.
