Description

MRI Tech Travel/Contract Position

Location: Battle Creek, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • Night shift: 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM
  • 5 shifts per week, 8 hours each (40 hours/week)
  • Call requirement: Yes, rotation among technologists from 12:00 AM to 5:00 AM
  • Weekend requirement: Every third weekend, 2nd shift (1:30 PM – 12:00 AM)
  • No float requirement, but may be expected to pick up additional shifts occasionally

Unit & Equipment

  • Work with Philips 3T MRI machine (GE preferred experience beneficial)
  • Outpatient and inpatient volume including ER, adult ICU, teaching and community hospital settings
  • Imaging includes routine MRI: MSK, Neuro, Body, Prostate, Perfusion
  • Documentation systems: EPIC, McKesson

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 1 year MRI experience (highest required years of experience)
  • Accepts first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required)
  • General skills: IV starts, PACS, contrast administration
  • MRI procedure experience: Abdomen, Pelvis, Head/Neck, Chest, Breast, Spine, Musculoskeletal, Diffusion (non-brain), Gradient Echo Imaging, Image Post-Processing, Maximum Intensity Projection (MIP), Multiplanar Reconstruction (MPR), Perfusion, Spin Echo Images, Surface Coils, T1 and T2 Weighted Images

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (AHA)
  • ARRT (MR) or AMRIT certification

Appearance

  • Scrubs color: Navy blue

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
  • E-Verify compliance required
  • Criminal background check within 45 days of start, including lifetime search from age 18
  • Education verification (copy of highest degree/diploma acceptable)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Drug test: 10-panel including Marijuana/THC within 30 days of start
  • Immunizations and health requirements:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (proof of at least one prior Tdap vaccine)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray as applicable
    • Annual TB questionnaire
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (no exemptions accepted)
    • Hepatitis B: titer, series, or facility declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (for candidates starting after Nov 1)
  • Fit mask testing required on-site (Honeywell DC365N95HC)
  • Completion of orientation safety manual acknowledgment
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam and specialty competency exam within 1 year prior to assignment start, passing score ≥80%

Background & State-Specific Requirements

  • Michigan LARA fingerprinting required within 45 days of start for certain positions (not specifically required for this role unless otherwise indicated)
  • Central Registry Clearance required only for specific pediatric and other specialized roles (not applicable here)

References & Employment History

  • One professional reference from a supervisor or manager required
  • Complete employment application/resume with full 7 years work history, no gaps (dates must be MM/YYYY format)

Additional Notes

  • Dosimetry history form required for radiology specialties; candidate must request from previous employers within the past year
  • Code of Conduct and Appearance Standards Policy must be reviewed and acknowledged prior to start
  • Vaccine exemption requests require facility-specific forms and approval, with submission at least 2 weeks before deadline

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • MRI Technologist with at least 1 year of experience within the last year
  • Experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Proficient with Epic documentation system
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ARRT (MR) or AMRIT certification
