RN - Postpartum / Mom Baby (Travel)

Location

  • Wichita, Kansas

Job Type

  • Travel assignment
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Hours per week: 36

Unit Information

  • Unit: Postpartum, Women’s Hospital
  • Floor: 5th floor, Main Entrance building
  • Number of beds: 29
  • Number of staff: 61
  • Patient ratio: 3-4 couplets per RN
  • Equipment used: Welch Allen vitals machines, CPN monitors, Point-of-Care Glucose monitoring
  • EMR system: Meditech / CPN

Job Description

  • Work on a busy, high-risk postpartum unit with a close-knit team of nurses and patient care technicians (PCTs)
  • Patients are primarily high risk; low-risk patients are cared for in a separate LDRP unit nearby
  • Flexible scheduling available and willingness to accommodate traveler needs

Typical Procedures

  • Point-of-Care Glucose monitoring
  • Breastfeeding support
  • Postpartum hemorrhage management
  • Assisting with circumcision
  • Hypertension assessment and management

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Kansas
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 1 year of Maternal-Newborn experience within the last year
  • Acute Care experience
  • BLS certification
  • NRP certification
  • De-escalation skills in a healthcare setting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with high-risk postpartum patients
  • Experience in Level 2 Nursery care

  • Prioritizes patient care experience

Additional Notes

  • Must follow established ICARE standards of behavior
  • The hospital delivers between 400-500 babies per month
