Description

Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) (Nights)

Location: Saginaw, Michigan
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours per Day: 12


Job Summary

  • Provide direct patient care using the nursing process, including ongoing assessment and skilled nursing interventions.
  • Administer medications, treatments, patient education, assist with transfers, respond to alarms, and other nursing duties.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of treatment plans and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to update care plans.
  • Function as a team leader/member and resource, delegating and overseeing support staff.
  • Comply with all local, state, federal regulations, and facility policies related to patient care.
  • Patient ratio target: 1 nurse to 4-6 patients.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience.
  • Experience in Neuro Progressive Care Unit (PCU) required.
  • Active Michigan RN license.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Current American Heart Association ACLS certification.
  • Active NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
  • Recent travel nursing work history highly preferred.
  • Completed skills checklist relevant to PCU within the last year.
  • Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years.

  • Facility considers local candidates within a 50-mile radius for this 13-week contract.
  • The role involves working in a full-service hospital with advanced surgical care, level II trauma center, and comprehensive stroke services.
  • The environment supports specialty care including stroke, structural heart, spine, cancer, orthopedics, and women’s health.
  • Utilizes robotic-assisted technology and offers respiratory therapy and rehabilitation services.

Summary

This is a night shift, temporary RN position in a Neuro PCU setting requiring at least 2 years of RN experience, specialized PCU skills, and multiple certifications. The role demands strong clinical skills, leadership, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team in a high-acuity hospital environment.
