Description

Registered Nurse - Rehab

Location: Elwood, Kansas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 18:45 - 7:15)
Hours per Week: 36


Job Description

  • Work in an inpatient hospital/rehabilitation setting.
  • Role includes charge nurse responsibilities: leading a team of LPNs and CNAs.
  • Schedule rotates every 2 weeks, including alternating weekends.
  • Patient length of stay averages about 14 days.
  • Facility uses Cerner for charting.
  • Attire: Navy blue scrubs and close-toed shoes.
  • Free parking available.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Kansas.
  • Minimum 1.5 years of rehabilitation nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Experience in inpatient and rehabilitation settings.
  • Experience in charge nurse roles.
  • ACLS certification.
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • IV certification.
  • Phlebotomy experience.
  • Experience with gastric tube feedings.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Certifications & Compliance

  • Physical exam within 30 days of start.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; annual TB questionnaire required.
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); mask required if declining.
  • 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 30 days to 1 year of start.
  • Background checks including 7-year work/school history, sex offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks.
  • State-specific abuse and neglect registry checks required within 30 days of start.

Additional Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID.
  • Emergency contact form prior to start.
  • Two professional references within the last 3 years (for travel, allied, or per diem acute care).
  • Annual skills checklist and competency exams as applicable.
  • Must provide all required documentation and clearances before start date.
  • Call-outs require more than 24 hours’ notice.
  • Time off requests must be approved at time of submission; holidays cannot all be taken off.
