Description
Registered Nurse (MS/Tele) - Travel/Contract
Location: Titusville, Florida
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit Type: Mixed Unit, High Acuity
- Shift: Day shift, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
- Patient Ratio Experience Required: 1:6
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: Required within scope, including Rapid Response team duties
- Orientation: Mandatory 5 shifts (36-40 hours) during clinical orientation week
- Block Scheduling: Not allowed
- Local Travel: Candidates must live more than 30 miles from the facility
- Call-Out Policy: 3 call outs result in termination
- Shift Change Notice:
- 48 hours notice refusal may forfeit guaranteed hours
- 1 week or more notice refusal may result in termination
- Holiday Work Requirement:
- If 1-2 holidays fall within assignment: work 1 evening and 1 holiday shift
- If 3 holidays fall within assignment: work 1 evening and 2 holiday shifts
- Charting System: Meditech
- Parking: Free in any unrestricted space
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Florida
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with at least 1 year of recent experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Rapid Response team experience
- Total joint replacement experience
- Experience managing a 1:6 patient ratio
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-Issued Photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Background Check within 6 months, including:
- Social Security Trace
- County, Nationwide, and National Sex Offender checks
- Education Verification (ASN, BSN, or MSN degree required; transcript/diploma acceptable as placeholder)
- Motor Vehicle Record (if driving is part of the job)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- Florida AHCA Level II Fingerprint Clearance (must be on file prior to start)
- Education Verification: Must not be from certain disallowed institutions (facility-specific list applies)
- Physical Exam: Within 6 months of start
- Drug Testing: 9-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (instant tests not accepted as final)
- Immunizations and Titers:
- MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer; waiver allowed if no immunity)
- Hepatitis B (titer or series; waiver allowed if no immunity)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; waiver allowed if no immunity)
- Flu vaccine or declination required
- COVID vaccine documentation required; religious or medical exemptions accepted with facility-specific forms
- TB Testing: PPD, QGold, or TSPOT within 1 year; chest X-ray if history of positive or BCG vaccine
- Fit Mask Testing: Completed onsite during first week
- Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology and general competency exams required (minimum 84% passing score)
- Color Blind Testing: Required online through Relias (minimum 80% score)
- References: Two professional references within last 2 years
- Performance Evaluation: Required within last year if previously worked through any agency

Additional Facility Requirements
- Completion of facility-specific job description and orientation documents
- Completion of assigned eLearning modules prior to start (approximately 4 hours required)
- Completion of Non-Employee Orientation Quiz and related forms (time sensitive)
- Review and sign various facility acknowledgements including confidentiality, tobacco-free policy, hospital orientation, clinical orientation, timecard expectations, and Pyxis authorization (for RNs)
- Must comply with facility vaccination declination and exemption policies if applicable
Notes
- Candidates must be prepared to float within the unit and participate in rapid response
- No block scheduling; strict adherence to shift and call-out policies
- Orientation week is mandatory and requires full attendance
- High acuity mixed unit environment requiring strong clinical skills and adaptability
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with at least 2 years of specialty experience, comfortable with high patient ratios and floating duties, and who meet all licensure, certification, and compliance requirements for Florida.
