Description

Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry)

Location: Largo, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: June 15, 2026
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (19:30 - 08:00)
Schedule: Every other weekend required; holidays as scheduled
Patient Care Setting:

  • Fast-paced, high volume border role between Emergency Department (ED), Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele), and Intermediate Care (IMC) units
  • Patient ratio approximately 1:6
  • Average daily census: 10 to 40 patients
  • Wide variety of complex ED admission diagnoses

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care within scope across ED borders, MS/Telemetry, and IMC units
  • Floating between these units as needed
  • No pre-scheduled on-call shifts required

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
  • Immunizations and titers required (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing):
    • TB testing (QGOLD, TSPOT, or 2-step PPD) with annual updates
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: positive titer or vaccination proof
    • Hepatitis B: positive titer or declination (series not accepted)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if applicable)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved exemption (for 2025-26 season)
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start
  • COVID vaccine not required for this location, but documentation collected for tracking
  • Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
  • Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
  • Verification of previous 5 years of employment history
  • Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start

Additional Requirements

  • Photo for badge (passport style with solid white/beige background)
  • Signed job description and confidentiality agreements prior to start
  • Completion of facility-specific forms such as dress code review and latex allergy questionnaire
  • Medication and specialty competency exams as applicable (must score 80% or higher)

Work Environment

  • Scrub color: Royal Blue
  • Unit census: 46 rooms
  • Role involves care for a diverse patient population in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment

This position offers an opportunity for RNs with at least 2 years of experience to work nights in a dynamic border role between ED, MS/Telemetry, and IMC units in Maryland. First-time travel nurses are welcome.
