Description
Registered Nurse - MS/Tele
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Nights only (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:45 to 7:15)
- Hours per week: 36
- Patient Population: Medical/Surgical patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6-7
- Float Requirement: Must float to similar units at least once a week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, including holidays
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Scrubs: Navy color required
- Unit Systems: Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR
- Special Procedures: Heparin drip management
- Scheduling: Based on scheduling gaps
- Must pass EKG competency test for this specialty
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Must be able to work nights, float, weekends, and holidays as specified
- Must be able to participate in Storm/Hurricane Team assignments and report during catastrophic events or disasters
Compliance & Testing Requirements
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Must pass with 82% or higher on first attempt within 72 hours of start; up to 3 attempts allowed with remediation
- Color Blind Testing: Required within 1 year prior to start
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required for new contracts
- Background Check: Required within 6 months of start (includes SSN trace, 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search)
- Drug Testing: 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start
- Physical Exam: Required for travel candidates (not for non-clinical)
- Immunizations and Titers:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (or proof of past positive with CXR)
- Rubeola (Measles): Titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if titer negative/equivocal
- Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella: Must meet current immunization or exemption requirements
- Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 to 10/31)
- Must complete Bloodborne Pathogens Training (review only for this facility)
Documentation & Onboarding Requirements
- Photo ID (passport-style photo on white background, no headwear except glasses, business attire) for badge creation must be submitted immediately after signing contract
- Required documents include: W4, State-specific W4, Permanent Tax Declaration, Driver’s License/State ID, Social Security Card (if used for I9), Direct Deposit form, Emergency Contact form, EOE forms, Arbitration Agreement
- Education verification and transcript/diploma required for highest degree earned
- Must complete facility-specific orientation and compliance training modules (including Medication Safety and Confidentiality Agreement)
- Must complete annual compliance and facility-specific education modules as applicable
- Must complete Corp ID setup and log into I-Learn within 24 hours of receiving credentials, providing screenshot proof
Additional Notes
- No Return to Office (RTO) after booking allowed; call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation and Do Not Rehire status
- Contract staff may be reassigned mid-contract to other units or centralized office as needed
- Radiation badge not required for this specialty
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, disaster-response capable environment
