Job Opportunity: PCU Registered Nurse
Location: Fishers, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (PCU)
- Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Hours per week: 36 hours
- Facility Type: Short-Term Acute Care
- Float Requirement: Yes, must float to Med-Surg unit
- Locals not accepted (must be a traveler)
- First-time travelers accepted
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contract
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Minimum 2 years of PCU (Progressive Care Unit) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Work Environment & Scheduling
- Guaranteed hours options:
- 3 shifts of 12 hours = 36 hours/week
- 4 shifts of 12 hours = 48 hours/week
- 8 or 10 hour shifts totaling 40 hours/week
- Charting system: Cerner
- Parking: Free
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks required within 90 days of start, including:
- 7-year residential/work history
- SSN Trace, County Criminal, Statewide, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level III
- Education verification
- International search if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Transcript or diploma (official copy) required; may be pending at start if needed
- Education verification by third party; may be pending at start if needed
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start with approved respirators (N95 or PAPR)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required (no declinations accepted)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant tests not accepted)
- Color blind testing (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score
- Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
- Minimum 2 professional references from recent employment (within 2 years), with supervisory titles
Additional Notes
- Effective 11/30/2024, Indiana RNs are generally not allowed to work at this facility except for Perioperative/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (not applicable to this PCU role)
- Facility-specific orientation and compliance forms must be completed as a priority prior to start
- Must comply with all facility policies and complete required competency exams
- Must be willing to float to Med-Surg as needed
This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with PCU experience seeking a travel contract in Indiana, who meets all licensing, certification, and compliance requirements and is comfortable working night shifts with holiday coverage.
