Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with specialized experience in structural heart procedures to work in a Cath Lab setting. This is a travel/contract position with a 4-day, 10-hour day shift schedule (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM), Monday through Friday, totaling 40 hours per week. Weekend and callback on-call duties are required approximately one weekend per four-week schedule.


Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Cardiac Cath Lab experience with a minimum of 2 years
  • Cardiac Cath Lab experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Skills in circulating, IV starts, and conscious sedation
  • Experience with Watchman Procedures, Septal Closure, Ablations, Coil Embolization, Filter Placement
  • Rhythm interpretation and EKG settings experience
  • ARRT Advanced Certification

Job Details

  • Shift: 4 x 10-hour day shifts (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM), Monday to Friday
  • Call Requirements: One day per week on call plus one weekend per four weeks; call volume may fluctuate due to staff absences
  • Float: Rarely required; if needed, may float to Electrophysiology (EP) unit or patient holding area within Cath Lab
  • Target Ratios: 3 procedure rooms
  • Scrubs: Provided
  • Systems: EPIC, MAC Lab
  • Interview: Candidate interview required prior to offer
  • Testing: Must pass EKG competency testing within 72 hours prior to start

Special Notes

  • No Return to Office (RTO) after booking allowed; call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation
  • Complex PCI procedures performed regularly
  • Radiation badge required for Cath Lab staff; will be provided for travel nurses

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

Candidates must provide and maintain the following:

  • Background check within 6 months prior to start
  • Drug screening (9-panel, within 6 months)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (or documentation of past positive TB with appropriate follow-up)
  • Required immunizations and titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Physical exam (as per travel agency requirements)
  • Photo ID (passport-style photo on white background for badge creation)
  • Completion of facility-specific education modules and compliance training (including medication safety and confidentiality agreements)
  • Proof of ACLS and BLS certifications
  • EKG competency exam with a minimum passing score of 82% (three attempts allowed)
  • Completion of Epic training or test-out option (if applicable)
  • Radiation badge issuance process for Cath Lab staff

Additional Requirements

  • Candidates must complete all required facility-specific forms and agreements prior to start
  • Must provide emergency contact information
  • Must complete annual compliance and mandatory education as required by the facility
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season; mask-wearing required if exempted
