Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Fishers, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Specialty: Critical Care Float Nurse (ICU)
• Schedule: Night shift, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Float Requirement: Yes, must float between ICU, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Medical-Surgical (MS), and Emergency Department (ED) as needed
• Patient Conditions: ARDS, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, DKA, AKI, UTI, Acute Shock
• Procedures/Equipment: Ventilator, Artic Sun, Balloon Pump (rare), Cath Lab, TR Bands, Sheath Pulls, EEGs, Cardioversion, Stress Tests
• Must be able to manage higher patient ratios

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Indiana
• Minimum 3 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Certifications:

  • ACLS
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)

Work Hours & Shifts

• Guaranteed hours vary by shift pattern:

  • 3 shifts of 12 hours = 36 hours/week
  • 4 shifts of 12 hours = 48 hours/week
  • 8 or 10 hour shifts also possible totaling 40 hours/week

• Charting system: Cerner
• Parking: Free
• Scrub color: Red top, black bottoms

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background checks including 7-year work/living history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings required within specified timeframes
• Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy) required
• Physical exam within 12 months of start date
• Fit mask test within 12 months (approved respirators only)
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • TB test within 1 year
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted)
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap strongly recommended
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required (no declinations accepted)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
• Color blind exam (Ishihara or equivalent) required
• Skills checklist and competency exams required annually
• References: Minimum 2 from recent employment with supervisory titles, verified within 2 years
• Employment application covering 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days

Additional Notes

• Locals are not accepted for this travel position
• Resource traveler role requiring flexibility to float across multiple units
• Perioperative/OR nurses and allied/ambulatory RN travelers are exempt from certain state license restrictions effective 11/30/24 (not applicable here)

This position is ideal for experienced ICU nurses comfortable with floating and working night shifts in a fast-paced acute care environment.
