Occupational Therapist (OT) - Travel Position
Location: Highlands, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Employment Type: Travel
Job Overview
- Work primarily in Acute care and Extended Living Center (ELC) settings.
- Provide physical and occupational therapy services in various environments including patient rooms, hallways, outdoor areas, and rehab gym.
- Float between acute/swing beds, nursing home, and outpatient services as needed.
- Collaborate frequently with the rehab team regarding patient progress, equipment needs, and discharge planning.
Facility & Unit Details
- 24 acute/swing beds, 40 nursing home beds, and 10 skilled beds within the nursing home.
- Rehab department includes PT, OT, and SLP services.
- Documentation systems used: Cerner and NetHealth.
- Scheduling: 36-40 hours per week; schedule to be discussed during interview.
- Dress code: Business casual or scrubs.
- New rehab gym construction planned with an outdoor gym in design; current gyms fully equipped and accessible to clinicians.
- Nursing home facility is 5-star rated.
- Hospital is stroke certified and rehab focused.
- Supportive, collaborative team environment with frequent staff celebrations and recognition.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Occupational Therapist license in North Carolina
- Occupational Therapist (OTR) certification
- Minimum 2 years of occupational therapy experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Experience in Acute Care settings
- Experience in Long Term Care settings
- Assessment of occupational therapist skills and knowledge or training on USP 800 guidelines for hazardous drug risk management

Summary
This travel OT role offers a dynamic work environment across acute, swing, nursing home, and outpatient rehab settings with a supportive team and access to excellent rehab facilities. Candidates should have at least 2 years of OT experience, NC licensure, and CPR certification. The position requires flexibility to float between units and strong communication skills within the rehab team.
