Description

Registered Nurse (ICU) - Travel Position

Location: Manchester, New Hampshire
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36


Unit Information

  • Unit: Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • Number of Beds: 20
  • Patient Population: Mixed medical and surgical ICU
  • Patient Ratios:
    • ECMO: 2:1
    • Post open heart surgery: 1:1
    • Critical ICU/devices patients: 1:1
    • Typical ICU assignment: 1:2
    • Stepdown: 1:3-4
  • Staffing:
    • Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 8-10 RNs, 1-3 LNAs, sitter PRN
    • Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 8-10 RNs, 1-3 LNAs, sitter PRN
  • Equipment Used:
    IV pumps, telemetry monitors, hoyer/stand lifts, Impella, IABP, CRRT (NxStage), bladder scanner, Bair hugger, rapid transfuser, Blanketrol (warming/cooling), chest tubes, vein finder, Sorin retransfuser (post cardiac surgery), ventilator, high flow nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Sunrise

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Hampshire
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with ICU experience within the last year
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Telemetry experience

  • Pericardiocentesis with drains left in place post-procedure
  • Thoracentesis
  • Central line insertion
  • Arterial line insertion
  • Chest tube insertion
  • Intubation
  • TEE cardioversion, TTE
  • Transvenous pacing wire insertion

Work Schedule & Environment

  • Shift: Not specified
  • Weekends: Every third weekend required
  • On-call: No call required
  • Floating Areas: Progressive Care Unit
  • Dress Code: Scrubs (color/attire not specified)
